2018 Askida IoT Challenge: Official rules, deadline, prizes and how to enter!

Attention all developers!

The 2018 IoT Challenge, presented by Askida, is now officially underway. We’re inviting you to build your own IoT device using a Raspberry Pi and a sensor kit. We have some awesome prizes to give away, including a 2500$ cash prize for the first prize, 2 iWatches, a Google Home Mini and more to come!

We are now accepting submissions for the 2018 IoT Challenge. You have until November 5th, 2018 at 11:59 pm EST to submit your IoT device.

To keep up with the IoT Challenge, join the 2018 IoT Challenge LinkedIn group, where we will be posting news, updates and other items. Feel free to use the group to ask questions or chat with other participants! You can also post on social media by using the hashtag #iotchallenge2018.

What to do

Build an IoT device using a Raspberry Pi 3, model B or B+ (www.raspberrypi.org or www.canakit.com). We encourage you to use material that’s inexpensive and easy to acquire. The sensor kit you use should cost less than 50$, and your total budget is 150$.

The application can use your choice of language or framework (Python, Javascript, .Net Core, Node-RED). Your design should be entirely original, or at least 50% original if you’re basing it on examples.

You should present your application with an architecture diagram and at least one sequence diagram. You may also receive bonus points for the robustness of your design (for example: power outage, self-healing, etc).

API stubbing is required, and you must document a test strategy and plans. You may receive bonus points for automated functional tests.
